Author Spotlight: Jordan Bates

Jordan Bates is an up and coming romance author from Florida, who is determined to write loves that last and are true to everyone who reads them.

Jordan graduated from UCF with a degree in English – Creative Writing. She has been writing since her freshman year in high school, where she finished her first and second book. Since then, she has pursued writing poetry, young adult novels, and romance novels.

When Jordan isn’t working or writing, you can find her looking for inspiration among the forests, and finding all the new food to eat. Because what’s better than writing? Eating an amazing burrito.

Ivy: What Genre do you write and will that ever change?

Jordan: Typically I write Contemporary Romance, but I plan to write across multiple Genres within Romance. I even have plans to write some YA within my career too!

Ivy: What or who inspired you to start writing?

Jordan: My father was the one who actually inspired me to write, more so because he was one of the first people to support my writing. It’s because of him I got to go to school for what I wanted,  which was English. I even dedicated my first book to him because if it wasn’t for him, I probably wouldn’t have the courage to be able to write and love as much as I do. He taught me what real and undying love is.

Ivy: What has been your biggest struggle with writing and self-publishing?

Jordan: My biggest struggle with writing has been the timing. I work a full-time job as a Manager, so actually having the time to write is super hard to get. The biggest struggle for self-publishing for me has been the juggling of everything. With my first book, I tried to do it all, but I learned with my second book that I had to give up doing everything because I just simply didn’t have the time.

Ivy: Are you a big reader?

Jordan: I am a HUGE reader, well, I used to be. Between writing and working, I don’t have a lot of time to read, but I try to sit down and read s much as I can.

Ivy: Best book you have read this year? shoutout to another author?

Jordan: So. I mentioned about that I’ve been super busy, too much so to really sit down and read, but I have been able to squeeze in one book! Wait with Me by Amy Daws! Her Tires Tires Tires story was an amazing journey to follow and the book was just as magical to read!

Besides her, the only other author I’ve been able to read period has been Alexa Riley. They are my jam. Any book that they release is pure smut gold!

Ivy: What is something not many people know about you?

Jordan: Most people have no idea that I am a huge math nerd. Like, I was supposed to go to college for Math instead of English. By my sophomore year of High School I was taking Trig and Stats, but after I passed them I decided to not take any more math. I use my skills at work to memorize numbers and I mean it works for running my own business as an author now, but I prefer to keep that little bit locked away in my head!

Ivy: What do you do in your free time?

Jordan: What’s free time?! Typically if I have free time, I’m writing, but if I had actually free time I binge watch shows on Netflix. It soothes my soul.

Ivy: What gets you in the writing mood?

Jordan: I listen to music. I have a playlist for the WIP that I’m writing and when I need to gear up for writing, I listen to the playlist and get into the characters head and then write my heart out!

Ivy: Where do you see yourself in five years?

Jordan: Hopefully in 5 years I’ll have released the 10 books that I already have plotted out lol. But for real, in 5 years I’m hoping to finally be a mom and quite possibly a Store Manager for the department store I work at.

Jordan’s novels are available on Amazon.
